Meaning and History

George Mason Patriots Logo History

The 1982-2004 logo features a combination of a green star with a yellow ribbon and the word “George Mason.” The five-pointed geometric figure is located in the upper left corner. Two wide curved lines emanate from it, interrupted in the middle. The uneven offset creates a sense of movement. The names of the sports teams are located at the bottom and are typed in thin serif letters.

The emblem introduced in 2005 significantly differs from the previous one. It also features a star, but this time, it is painted in two colors – black and orange. Thanks to this combination of shades, the geometric figure appears three-dimensional, as the rays are divided into two contrasting parts. A wide green-white zigzag with an orange outline extends from the star. The bottom half of the logo is occupied by two plaques with the inscriptions “Mason” and “Patriots.”
